One of the most famous castles in London and really all of England is Windsor Castle which has a long detailed and fascinating history. The castle itself has been occupied for a very long time – for a millennia in fact, ever since the legendary William the Conqueror ordered for the first Windsor Castle to be erected as a relatively small motte-and-bailey castle in 1070. Since then Windsor Castle has been continuously occupied, and maintained as one of the British Monarch’s most prized building.
